Written by Michael Dahl

Hi,

I have just upgraded to CrachPlan 3

Did a download, Edited the install.sh

Deleted all BUT "conf", "cache" and "manifest" in my old Crashplan dir

Installed Crashplan using my own guide Cool

Edited /opt/crashplan/bin/CrashPlanEngine with "/opt/bin/bash" fix

NICE.... it works Laughing

does crashplan auto update on the QNAP? if not how do you do it manually?

Quoting Adrian:
Phil,

You need to copy out your .identity file from /var/lib/crashplan to let's say /share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/CrashPlan/ and replace it with the symlink as /var/lib/crashplan doesn't survive the reboot...
If still unclear PM me on the qnap forums [spoon.uk]and I shall explain further...

Adrian,

did the copy of the .identity file: cp /var/lib/crashp lan/.identity /share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/crashplan/

Could you please explain exactly by "and replace it with the symlink"...?
I am not a linux expert so any help is very appreciated

Also question to everyone - my instance of CP seems to be endlessly looping in the upgrade process, anyone experiencing similar issues?

Gentlemen,
I have had problems with the previous version; everytime the QNAP was rebooted I lost my settings and had to reinstall according to Michaels guide. (A ./crashplan start or restart only started the service for a few seconds).

Now, after the new version, the service suddenly stopped again. I think it is because of an automated update process..

and I think my problem lies in the edit of the install.sh
Is there any chance that one of you guys that has a CP running confi that can sustain a reboot, can post your edited script?
That would help tremendously.. thanks!!

Success here, too. But it did take around 45 minutes to re-sync 300GB. I wonder if there was some other data I could have left in place to avoid that. Perhaps the cache directory?
